You have the opportunity to ascend this sacred peak, known locally as Sri Pada. A depression at the top of the peak is said to be Buddha's footprint and, each year, thousands climb to the top for sunrise.

Setting off at around 2 am, there is a stone staircase which we follow right to the top. It can be tough on the legs, and some may find it physically challenging, but you can go at your own pace, take your time and savour the experience shared with pilgrims. We reach the top in time for sunrise, when spectacular views all around us.

The ascent involves around 900 metres of ascent and descent, with many flights of steps some of which are steep, and is about 5km in each direction.
