This sacred lagoon, the birthplace of the legendary El Dorado, was once the site of mesmerizing Muisca ceremonies, where gold was offered to the gods in dazzling rituals. Surrounded by lush green hills and misty mountain air, the lake’s emerald waters invite you to explore its rich history and stunning landscapes. Begin your adventure to Caño Cristales, one of Colombia’s most breathtaking natural wonders. After a scenic transfer, arrive in the heart of Serranía de la Macarena, where the legendary “River of Five Colors” awaits. Known for its vibrant hues of red, yellow, green, blue, and black, this mesmerizing river is a true spectacle of nature. Get ready to explore its crystal-clear waters, cascading waterfalls, and stunning rock formations as you embark on an unforgettable journey into Colombia’s most colorful paradise!

IMPORTANT! - There are no currency exchange houses in La Macarena, so it is recommended to bring enough local cash. - The itinerary and flight schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and information from airport 

authorities. - Luggage limit: 10 to 15 kg, depending on the airline. - Vaccination: Yellow fever vaccination is recommended at least 10 days before departure. - To protect the National Natural Park, the use of sunscreen, repellents, or other chemical substances is strictly 

prohibited. - Smoking or consuming alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the park.

The day begins with breakfast at La Manigua Lodge, followed by a scheduled departure time (between 7 AM and 8 AM) assigned by Cormacarena and National Parks. Our journey starts with a 15-minute canoe ride along the Guayabero River, followed by a 40-minute 4x4 drive into the PNN Sierra de La Macarena. Upon arrival at the National Parks reception center, we’ll warm up before setting off on a 30-minute hike to reach the stunning Caño Cristales.

Once there, we’ll follow an assigned trail, determined by the environmental authorities based on availability and our physical condition. Over the next 7 hours, we’ll explore the colorful river, enjoy a packed lunch, and swim in designated natural pools. As the day winds down, we retrace our route back to La Manigua Lodge, where we’ll unwind with a cultural activity by the river, taking in the serene landscapes before enjoying a delicious dinner.

After your transfer, settle into your accommodation and take the afternoon to explore at your own pace. Whether you choose to wander through vibrant neighborhoods or unwind in a scenic park, this free afternoon is the perfect introduction to Medellín’s charm and energy.

Nestled in the Eastern Andes, this reserve boasts crystal-clear waters and a marble riverbed that winds through a lush, tropical rainforest canyon. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the serene beauty of this unique natural wonder. Relax on the stunning beaches along the Claro River or, for the more adventurous, try zip-lining across the river or indulge in other exciting activities in the surrounding rainforest (additional costs apply).
