Then, crossing Matancilla, a sector rich in flora and fauna, we find ourselves in the Rainbow Valley, so called because of the variety of tonalities that can be observed in the surrounding hills: earth colors such as red, brown, green, white and yellow, which combined with the white salts and the blue sky, make up a unique site.

In the same way, we will make a stop in the Chaxa Lagoon, a place where you will be able to see the beautiful flamingos. 4. Day 4 Explore the Tatio Geysers and Machuca Town

Our trip to the Altiplano begins early in the morning, to see the sunrise in one of the most important geothermal fields in the world: the Tatio Geysers. There are more than 70 fumaroles from which jets of steam emerge and form pools of boiling water. His best face is presented in the first hour of the day, which is when beautiful colors are born between the intense contrast of the blue sky and the pristine steam of the geysers.

In the middle of this impressive natural setting next to the Andes, we will enjoy a restorative breakfast, which will allow us to warm the body, given that the temperatures in this area reach 24.5º C and the minimum of 2ºC below zero.

Taking the path for returning to San Pedro de Atacama, we will observe the beauty of the landscape, its valleys, its native flora and fauna, where the charismatic vicuñas and vizcachas stand out.

Then we will stop in the town of Machuca, an Atacama town with barely twenty houses made of adobe, straw, and cactus wood, where its inhabitants are dedicated to tourism and offer Andean crafts and typical gastronomy.

Anyways, breakfast can be in the next tourist attraction: the wetland of the Quepiaco River, where we will appreciate the contrast between vegetation and the mountain range.

After that, we will go to the Pacana lookout, so then we go visit the Monjes de la Pacana (Pacana Monks), which are big stone pillars that rise lonely in the middle of the desert. Then, we will visit the Quisquiro Salt Flat, which is at more than 4,000 m (13,123 ft.) of altitude. Here we will have time to rest and enjoy the surroundings.

Finally, on our way back to San Pedro de Atacama, we will pass by the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat, known for its coloured waters.

First, we will visit the famous Cejar Lagoon and Piedra Lagoon, surrounded by green and yellow grass, which highlights the color of the water, while we see a unique landscape of turquoise waters and volcanoes. In the Piedra Lagoon, we will enjoy swimming with a flotation effect due to the high concentration of salt, so we will be able to float on the surface.

After that, we will visit the Ojos del Salar, two deep freshwater wells in the middle of the desert. Then, we will visit the Tebinquinche Lagoon, where we will walk by its track to see the incredible views where the sky merges with the desert and the salt whiteness.
