      PM Astronomical Observatory

Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes

      Schedule: 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM / 11:30 PM to 1:30 AM

This is a fabulous experience! San Pedro de Atacama is known for having some of the best skies in the world for stargazing. We will head to a remote location away from the town, where you’ll enjoy a talk about Andean cosmovision and its connection to the highland communities, along with some basic astronomy knowledge.

After learning, we’ll prepare to be amazed by the universe, the Milky Way, and constellations – all through a professional telescope, guided by a certified astronomer.

What you’ll see in the sky may vary depending on factors like light pollution or the moon itself. When the moon’s luminosity exceeds 70%, the tour focuses directly on it for a unique experience.

To wrap up, we’ll enjoy a snack with hot drinks to warm up from the chilly night. We highly recommend dressing warmly for this excursion.

      Includes:

      Transportation + driver/guide + snack + telescope.

    2. Day 2 AM moon valley + PM Rainbow valley

AM Valle de la Luna - moon valley

      Duration: 4 hours

Schedule: From 8 AM to 2 PM

In the Cordillera de la Sal, you can find this geological wonder. Previously known as Las Salinas and now recognized worldwide as Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), this unique landscape is of unparalleled beauty, resembling the surface of the moon, which is where its name comes from. In 1982, it was declared a Natural Sanctuary and is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve. This area offers an incredible geological spectacle, especially at sunrise and sunset.

During your visit, you can explore iconic formations such as the famous "Three Watchmen," now called "The Three Marías," and the Amphitheater, the Great Dune – a majestic sand formation, and Quebrada Honda, where you’ll find the famous Piedra del Coyote (Coyote Rock).

      Includes:

      Transportation + driver/guide + entrance fee.

      PM Rainbow Valley

Discover the colored mountains of the Rainbow Valley, the Salado River Valley and Yerbas Buenas Petroglyphs.

      Schedule: 14hrs to 18:30

      Duration: 4.5 hours

We will leave San Pedro de Atacama to the west, and our first stop will be Yerbas Buenas, an area of great historical importance due to one of the most important petroglyphs' group of the region. Through this place, indigenous caravans crossed from the Argentine north-east and the Bolivian Altiplano, and arrived to the Pacific Ocean. We will see varied carvings and drawings in the rock like camelids, birds, monkeys and dogs.

Then, you will visit the place known as Rainbow Valley. We will make a stop to stretch the legs and visit this place walking 1hour to go there, and then 1 hour back, which name is because of the varied colors of the rocks, product of the different minerals that they have.

After the tour with explanations of our guide and time to take pictures, we will go to the Salado River area, where there is a small valley in which we will be able to walk to see the landscape. After that, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama to end the activity.

    3. Day 3 AM Altiplanic Lagoons and Piedras Rojas

      Duration: 9 hours

Schedule: From 7 AM to 4 PM

This tour is a fascinating geological, biological, and cultural experience as we travel towards the Andes Mountains. Along the way, we’ll see the original villages of the Atacama Desert, their unique architecture and history, the vast salt flats with their flamingo population, high-altitude lagoons above 4,000 meters above sea level, and the stunning geological formations of Piedras Rojas – a truly unforgettable, otherworldly landscape.

During this expedition, we will visit:

      • Toconao (Kunza: "Hidden Corner"), a charming village known for its simplicity, the calm nature of its people, a special climate, beautiful architecture, and crafts.

      • Laguna Chaxa, located in the Solcor Sector of the Los Flamencos National Reserve, on the edge of the Atacama Salt Flat.

      • Socaire, an altiplanic village where we’ll visit its church and learn about its agricultural practices.

We’ll then continue to approximately 4,200 meters above sea level to visit the Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons.

Our final stop will be Piedras Rojas, located at the Talar Salt Flat. This area is famous for its red-hued rocks, shaped by natural oxidation and weathering processes, creating a striking contrast against the Andes' intensity.

    4. Day 4 AM Tatio Geysers

      Duration: 7.5 hours

Schedule: From 5 AM to 12:30 PM

El Tatio (from Kunza “tata-iu,” meaning “the grandfather who cries”) is one of the highest geyser fields in the world. Located in the Andes mountain range northeast of San Pedro de Atacama, it is the largest group of geysers in the Southern Hemisphere and the third largest in the world, after Yellowstone (USA) and Dolina Giezerow (Russia).

At an altitude of 4,264 meters and with temperatures reaching 85°C (185°F), it’s a spectacular experience. On the way back, you may spot wildlife such as vicuñas, llamas, rheas, and vizcachas. The flora is equally impressive, with giant cacti, llaretas, and coirón grass.

We will also visit the small ancestral village of Machuca, where the few inhabitants focus on herding and cheese production. Nearby, we’ll stop at Laguna Salada, home to flamingos, ducks, and gulls, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Within this salt flat lies Laguna Cejar, a stunning and mystical turquoise lagoon. Its high salt content creates a floating effect, making it a relaxing and fun experience to swim in.

We’ll also visit the Ojos del Salar, two water pools fed by underground aquifers, where small reeds and algae grow along their edges. Finally, at Laguna Tebenquinche, you’ll enjoy the dazzling white salt landscape while having a snack and admiring the unforgettable reflection of the Andes Mountains in the water.
